MSK Extreme with v-Spec Technology

Combines the power of a miniaturized high field magnet, versatile spctrometer control software and engineered, protocol enhanced T/R coils to produce Extreme Quality Images.

MSK Extreme - The first high-field, dedicated extremity MRI system developed specifically for the MSK specialist now features v-SPEC Technology, a proprietary performance enhancing package designed to produce Extreme quality images of extremity body parts.

The key is in the Spectrometer

Central to the v-SPEC package is ONI's unique approach to the spectrometer component of the MRI system, which uses host based software to dynamically control the synchronization of pulse initiation and signal cycles with extreme precision. This approach allows the company and its research partners to rapidly model and refine pulse sequences that optimize the system's contrast and resolution. The software control component allows the optimized sequences to be electronically distributed and implemented on other ONI extremity systems.

v-SPEC Coil Set Rockets Signal to Noise Ratios

Also unlike most MRI systems that make use of a relatively small number of coils for scans across all parts of the body, the high-field MSK Extreme with v-SPEC uses a set of 6 specialized removable transmit/receive coils to optimize system performance for extremity scans.

The coils, with inside diameters ranging from 80 to 180mm (80, 100, 123, 145, 160, and 180mm) are anatomy independent and keyed to the system. Insert one and it is automatically identified by the scan console, which loads the appropriate information into the scan protocol via the spectrometer.

Integrating seamlessly with the MRI system, the v-SPEC coil set enhances system performance, boosting signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) by 40 - 80% over the standard system coils. Increased SNR allows the user to acquire same quality images with shorter scan times, or to use standard procedure times to produce images with quality and resolution unmatched by any other dedicated extremity MRI system.

Performance Enhanced Sequences Complete the Picture

With the rapid refinement of sequences afforded by the spectrometer component of the v-SPEC system, the MSK Extreme provides the MSK specialist access to the robust set of sequences you would expect for an MSK exam including; 3 types of fat suppression (inversion recovery, fat/water separation and frequency selected fat suppression) fast spin echo, driven equilibrium and 2D & 3D gradient echo sequences.
