Vertec Scientific are pleased to announce the first UK installation of the PTW Device for Advanced Verification of IMRT Deliveries (DAVID) into the new St James’ Hospital Radiotherapy Centre in Leeds.
DAVID comprises a transparent precision multi-wire harp ionisation chamber which fits into the accessory tray of the linac gantry to record the beam in front of the patient. The number of measurement wires is determined by the number of MLCs in any particular type and make of linac. The device is Independently powered by NiMH batteries, with data transmitted by Bluetooth wireless connection to a receiver placed within the linear accelerator room. DAVID measures, in vivo, the dose delivered during each patient radiotherapy session which is compared with previously measured reference data. Featuring instant readout on easy-to-use software with full documentation for each patient undergoing radiotherapy treatment, DAVID provides maximum dose deviation, mean dose deviation and overall dose deviation. For further information or to arrange an on-site demonstration of the PTW DAVID system please contact Michael Davis.
