The first 1.0 Tesla High Field, High Performance, Low Cost Dedicated MRI System for Extremity Imaging
ONI's high-field dedicated MSK Extreme with v-SPEC, the world's only high field, truly open
MRI system dedicated to extremity imaging, was first made available
to the medical community, and the general public, in March 2002.
This system provides consistently reliable, high image quality
scanning of the hand, wrist, elbow, foot, ankle and knee. The ONI MSK Extreme with v-SPEC design,
high field performance, and low cost has lead to system placements
alongside other whole body MRI units in hospitals and imaging centers
to reduce patient backlog, and, in orthopedic offices for fast,
high quality diagnostics and patient convenience. The ONI systems
address many of the needs for orthopedic MRI diagnostics in a
compact, high resolution, user and patient friendly unit.
For
Radiologists:
- High
field image quality
- High field clinical and pulse sequence flexibility
- "Sweet Spot" Imaging (design optimized
for extremities)
For
Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Practices:- MRI in an office for quick, convenient, high
field patient diagnostics
- Can be sited in as little as 165 sq ft (15.5 sq m)
- Less than
2 patients/day breakeven
- Light-weight, can be placed on most any floor level
- Tele-radiology equipped for rapid image review
and consultation
For
Hospitals and Imaging Centers:
- Reduce overflow backlog problem on whole body
(WB) MRI unit without the expense of purchasing another whole body
unit
- The ONI MSK Extreme with v-SPEC price is a small fraction of a
high field whole body unit.
- Image quality and scan speed similar to
high field whole body unit
- DICOM 3 compliant
For
Patients:
- Open magnet design (non-claustrophobic)
- Comfortable
patient chair, not table or cart
- Integrated RF coils, eliminates
uncomfortable surface coils
- Limbs only are inserted into magnet
- Fast scan
times due to high field operation
- Eliminates waiting for whole body
MRI appointmen
For
Technologists:
- Automatic scan setup
- 4 keystrokes to scan
- Intuitive user interface
screens
- Anatomical graphics correlate with imaged area
- Pre-defined
and custom sequence protocols
- Easy and fast patient positioning
For
Due Diligence Considerations:
- High field image quality, preferred by the diagnostic
community
- Reliable diagnostics for all joints imaged,
eliminates re-referrals or repeats to WB units
- Alternative
to purchasing another whole body unit to reduce patient overflow
-
Minimal floor space requirements – can be sited in as little as 165 sq
ft (15.5 sq m). Preferred siting is 228 sq ft (21.5 sq m).
- Minimal leasehold
improvements
- Low operating and maintenance costs
- Rapid R.O.I.
(< 2 patients/day breakeven)
- Multiple acquisition alternatives (cash,
lease, minimal risk fee-per-scan)
- System cost similar to
low field, permanent magnet, extremity systems
