Vertec Scientific is a sales and service organisation dealing almost exclusively in the medical and scientific fields. Established in 1978, the company was privately owned until its purchase in December 1998 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acal Plc. Vertec Scientific has an unsurpassed reputation for quality of products and after sales service, which has been built up over many years. We have been ISO 9000 accredited since 1995 and are WEEE compliant (reg no. WEE/AD0070TY) The company is housed in a factory unit in Aldermaston, where we are well placed to serve our customer base within the UK due to the near proximity of the M4 corridor. We also have staff members based in the Midlands and North of the country - both in sales and service - to support our customers there.
In late 1987, Vertec became the first overseas distributor for Hologic Inc. The relationship was based upon Vertec's experience and reputation in the Bone Densitometry field, Vertec having previously supplied Novo DPA systems into the UK. Since this time, Vertec has supplied several hundred Hologic Bone Densitometers into the UK making us the market leaders in this field. We have also become the UK's major supplier of Mini 'C'-arm systems for extremity imaging with Hologic's Fluoroscan 'Insight' system. Following a merger between Gothic Crellon and Vertec Scientific in 1998, Vertec became the distributors of PTW products. Vertec are now the UK's leading supplier of Dose Area Product meters - the PTW Diamentor range being the unit of choice among all the major manufacturers of x-ray equipment. Radiotherapy is an important and increasing market for us, with products ranging from patient positioning devices to high-end dosimetry and beam plotting systems. Vertec does not manufacture any products as such although we hold the product license for a small radiation monitoring device - the Bleeper - that is manufactured for us and sold via dealers around the world. All our mainstream products are sold under exclusive sales agreements with the manufacturers. Among the manufacturers represented are Hologic Inc., ONI, PTW, Scanflex, Orfit, Viatronix, DynaWell, Neurophysics and Neurologica. In September 2006, Vertec opened a subsidiary company in South Africa. VertecSA, based in Johannesburg, follows the same high standards as Vertec in the UK and has achieved significant success.
