Fluoroscan at St George's
The highly successful consultant led hand unit at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a patient-centred and multi-disciplinary approach to helping people manage their hand and wrist problems. The team consists of six plastics hand consultants and two orthopaedic hand consultants. They are supported by a nursing team including an advanced nurse practitioner, two nurse practitioners and three nurse specialists and a therapies team made up of a clinical specialist hand therapist, nine therapists and one therapy technician.
The unit has used Hologic Fluoroscan intraoperative mini x-ray c-arm systems supplied by Vertec Scientific for many years. Pictured recently following the installation of the latest InSight system are: Vertec Scientific engineer Stewart Needham, consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Magnus Arnander and consultant plastic surgeon Mr Jamil Moledina with Vertec Scientific product specialist Keith Lakin.
